I am a husband, a dad from the Upper Midwest, and a cancer warrior who has now walked through more than most bodies are ever meant to endure. Seventy radiation treatments. Twenty chemotherapy infusions. A five hour radical neck dissection. I followed the maximum treatment path recommended in the United States, not once, but twice.
On June 3, 2025, our twenty fifth wedding anniversary, my wife and I received the words no family wants to hear. My head and neck cancer had spread to my lungs. Stage 4. Terminal. We were told I may have only four good months left.
After everything my body had absorbed, it still was not enough.
That was the turning point.
Instead of surrendering, we leaned in. We met with alternative cancer practitioners. I used AI to gather and analyze research. I became my own patient. We built an integrative treatment plan that combined Keytruda immunotherapy with aggressive immune optimization, high dose vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, repurposed medications, high dose vitamin C infusions, and a strict carnivore diet. I tracked labs. I studied data. I adjusted intentionally.
Six months later, two lung nodes were undetectable. Two had reduced by 75 percent and stabilized.
We are not finished. But we are no longer standing in the same place.
This approach has not been inexpensive. We created a GoFundMe because insurance does not cover much of this path. Many of you stepped forward with donations. Many more lifted us in prayer. Your generosity and faith carried us through some very dark days.
Thank you is not a strong enough phrase.
During this fight, I began writing my memoir. It documents not just the medical strategy, but the emotional roller coaster a cancer patient and his family endure. My goal is simple. I want to help others avoid the mistakes I made and to give them a framework for thinking critically about their options. That book will be published this Spring.
At the same time, I created a 42 page guide titled 10 Cancer Prevention Steps That Could Save Your Life. Forty percent of Americans will develop cancer in their lifetime. That statistic is unacceptable. This guide is for those who are not actively battling cancer but want to improve their odds. I created it because I wish someone had handed it to me years ago. My blog continues to share both prevention strategies and treatment options for those seeking answers.
This journey has required grit, faith, data, discipline, and family. It has tested every part of us. But it has also revealed the power of community. We are not meant to fight battles like this alone.
We are not completely done. I still need your prayers. I still need your support. I am still in this fight.
But we are moving forward.
Together.
With gratitude,
Wayne
